In Memory of Tony Sanchez

February 28, 2007

Brothers & Sisters

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Brother Antonio "Tony" Sanchez on Monday, February 26, 2007, at the age of 48. Tony became a member on October 17, 1977, and your Business Representative on May 4, 1998. During his career as Business Representative, Tony brought in close to 100 new members a year and provided new working opportunities by bringing in numerous new contractors. Tony also served on the Southern California Negotiating Committee and Cement Masons Trust funds. Tony's concern, first and foremost was to improve the lives of our members and their families.

Tony has bravely battled cancer since September of last year. He is survived by his mother and father, four brothers, wife Ofelia and beautiful daughters, Ofelia, Angelica, Anabel, and Mary. A few days before Tony's passing, while in Hospice, Tony told me that we are all in God's hands and whatever circumstance we are dealt, we must "grab the bull by the horns" and move forward.

Tony showed great bravery and compassion in life and in death. Tony is now with God, in a much better place. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Tony's wife and daughters, and family members in this time of loss. As a friend and brother, I will greatly miss his presence in my life and our Local Union.

"God blesses those who mourn for they will be comforted" Matthew 5:4.

Sincerely and Fraternally yours,

Scott Brain
Business Manager
and Financial Secretary
